About the event

The workshop will last around 3 to 4 hours, lunch will be provided!

Washi paper is a traditional handmade Japanese paper produced using the fibres from the inner bark of 3 different plants (Gampi, Mitsumata and Mulberry) and is generally stronger than normal paper made from wood pulp. The making of Washi paper has been nurtured for over 1,300 years and was added to Unesco's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.

The crane is known as a symbol for posterity, longevity and fidelity. In Japan, the crane is said to live for 1,000 years. According to Japanese folklore, folding 1,000 paper cranes can make one's wish come true! So join us in March and lets have a wonderful earring making experience together!

We will introduce you a range of tools to use for proper jewellery making and a step by step demonstration on how to fold a paper crane and how to fix the pieces together into a pair of beautiful earrings. Also you will get some useful tips of how to take care of the handmade earrings to keep it nice and shiny!
