Silkscreen Printing on Fabric Beginner
In this workshop, you will learn the basic process behind silkscreen printing on fabric and familiarize yourselves with the tools and machinery needed for the job. You will learn how to mix the pigments together with the printing medium and applying them onto your chosen motifs. You will be printing on either a T-shirt or a totebag.
Fabric Paint Mixing – Students will learn how to mix the fabric paint from scratch by choosing the pigment inks of their choice, mixing it together with our professional used fabric rubber dye. So you can create your own unique tone off the charts, be adventurous with you colours!!
Silkscreen Printing on T-Shirt/ Totebag – In this step, students will work in pairs to transfer their chosen designs with the paint they have just mixed onto their t-shirts or totebags.
You will be printing and planning your own design by using traditional cut-out technique and transferring the image you have brought to class onto the silkscreens. You will learn how to coat a silkscreen with the light sensitive photo emulsion which would then be used to tranfer your image under the UV light exposure machine.
